Urgent Calls for Establishing DNA Testing Laboratories in Gaza
SadaNews - The spokesperson for the forensic evidence department in Gaza confirmed the urgent need for specialized scientific laboratories to examine criminal fingerprints and DNA, especially given the significant difficulties faced by investigation teams in identifying the bodies received from Israel.
He explained in press statements that authorities have received 330 bodies, but only 90 identities have been confirmed so far, relying on forensic imaging and eyewitness accounts from families, which is insufficient for scientifically and accurately confirming identities.
The spokesperson emphasized the necessity for international bodies to intervene to provide modern forensic equipment and laboratories, stressing that the current situation leaves investigation teams incapacitated in their mission to identify the missing, which increases the suffering of their families.
