Haaretz: The Israeli Army Issues Instructions to Stop the Activities of 'Abu Shabab' Militias
SadaNews - The Haaretz newspaper reported that the Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army, Eyal Zamir, in coordination with the Shin Bet security service, has issued official instructions to stop the activities of the "Abu Shabab" militias and expel their members from the areas where they are spread.
According to the newspaper, the Israeli security establishment believes that the continuation of these groups' activities in the upcoming phase would undermine the withdrawal arrangements and affect the portrayal of security control that Israel seeks to promote internationally.
Estimates according to Haaretz indicate that these militias will quickly disband once military support is withdrawn, in the absence of any popular support or social or political legitimacy within the Palestinian community.
