"TikTok" Allows Users to Reduce AI-Generated Content

SadaNews - TikTok has announced that it will give users the ability to reduce the amount of content generated using artificial intelligence on their feeds.

According to the British newspaper "The Guardian," TikTok announced that there are now 1.3 billion videos on its platform classified as AI-generated.

In total, more than 100 million pieces of content are uploaded to TikTok daily, making AI-generated content a small part of the total content on the platform.

TikTok noted that this new change will be tested in the coming weeks before it is launched globally.

Users will be able to decrease or increase the AI-generated content they see by opening the "Manage Topic" option in the app and selecting "AI-generated content."

Jade Nester, the European Director of Public Policy for Safety and Privacy at TikTok, said: "We know from our community that many people enjoy content created using AI tools, from digital art to explanations of sciences, and we want to give people the ability to see more or less of it, based on their preferences."

TikTok's guidelines require content creators to label AI-generated content that appears "realistic" and prohibit harmful deepfake videos that target public figures or could create crises.

Additionally, the app will now add a watermark stating "Generated using AI" to content created with this technology, or that is reported through an industry-wide initiative to identify AI-generated material called C2PA.

This comes at a time when the emergence of new video creation tools like "Sora" from OpenAI and "View 3" from Google has led to a massive increase in AI-generated content online.

The Guardian revealed in August that nearly 1 in 10 of the fastest-growing channels on YouTube globally only feature AI-generated videos. Many of them are classified as "undesirable AI content," a term used for low-quality content that is produced en masse and is often nonsensical or surreal.
