"UNICEF": Two Children Die Daily in Gaza Since Ceasefire Due to Israeli Attacks
SadaNews - Ricardo Perez, spokesperson for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), stated that since the ceasefire agreement came into effect on October 11, in Gaza, "an average of two children are killed daily due to Israeli attacks." During his weekly press conference at the United Nations office in Geneva, on Friday, he pointed out that "despite the ceasefire, a girl was killed yesterday, Thursday, in an Israeli airstrike on Khan Younis in southern Gaza, and the day before, seven children were killed in the city of Gaza." He added, "Since the ceasefire started on October 11, at least 67 children have been killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza, and dozens more have been injured. This means that the death rate is two children daily since the truce began." Perez clarified that "these figures are not just statistics; each number represents a child with a family and dreams," stressing that "a harsh reality is imposed on the children of Gaza, and there is no safe place for them, and the world cannot continue to normalize their suffering." The spokesperson mentioned that UNICEF is conducting extensive interventions in Gaza, but it is still not enough, adding, "If the necessary aid and support had indeed reached faster, we could have done more." He explained that "hundreds of thousands of children are living in tents and facing harsh winter conditions, and the children of Gaza spend the night without heating or insulation or blankets, which makes them suffer from the cold."
