Cohen: I expect 6 or 7 more countries to join the normalization agreements
SadaNews: In an interview with Yedioth Ahronoth, Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen stated that the hospitality shown by U.S. President Donald Trump towards Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman may pave the way for new steps towards normalization between Israel and Saudi Arabia, even without the establishment of a Palestinian state. Cohen added that he expects six or seven additional countries to join the Abraham Agreements in the upcoming phase.
The minister affirmed that Israel will not accept any normalization formula that comes at the price of establishing a Palestinian state that could pose a threat to its security, stating: "If the price of normalization is the establishment of a Palestinian state that threatens our security, then I will abandon it."
In another context, Cohen addressed during the meeting the issue of the fighter jet sale deal between the United States and Saudi Arabia, emphasizing that maintaining Israeli military superiority in the region remains a top priority.
He clarified that Washington has yet to finalize the details of the deal, but noted that the United States possesses more advanced technologies than the F-35 jets that it can offer to Israel, adding that insisting on Israel's military superiority is also an American interest.
