After Hamas.. Islamic Jihad: We reject the American decision adopted by the Security Council

SadaNews - The Islamic Jihad Movement stated, "We reject the American decision adopted by the Security Council, as it represents an international mandate over the Gaza Strip, after Hamas announced its criticism of the same decision."

The movement continued: "The Security Council's decision separates the Gaza Strip from the rest of the Palestinian territories and imposes new realities that contradict the constants of the Palestinian people."

It added: "The right of the Palestinian people to resist the occupation is guaranteed by international law, and the weapon of resistance is a guarantee of this right."

The United Nations Security Council adopted, on Monday evening New York time, the American draft regarding ending the Israeli war in the Gaza Strip.

In a general session, 13 council members voted in favor of the draft, while Russia and China abstained from voting.

The decision, which carries the number 2803, welcomed President Donald Trump's 20-point plan to end the war in Gaza, issued on September 29, 2025, according to the United Nations website.

The Security Council called for the complete implementation of the plan and the maintenance of the ceasefire.

Here are the key points in the decision:

- The Security Council's decision welcomes the establishment of a Peace Council to oversee the reconstruction of Gaza until the completion of the reform of the Palestinian Authority.

- The Security Council decision sets the end of 2027 as the deadline for the Peace Council's term and the presence of civilian and security internationals in the Gaza Strip.

- Completing the reform of the Authority and advancing reconstruction may create conditions for self-determination and a Palestinian state.

- We emphasize the necessity of resuming aid to Gaza in cooperation with the Peace Council and ensuring that it is used for peaceful purposes only.

- The operational entities will work under the authority of the Peace Council and be financed by voluntary contributions and donor organizations.

- We call on the World Bank and financial institutions to support the reconstruction of Gaza and establish a fund for this purpose.

- Establishing a temporary international stabilization force in Gaza operating under a unified command in coordination with Egypt and Israel.

- The stabilization force will work on disarming Gaza, protecting civilians, and training the Palestinian police.

- The stabilization force will help secure humanitarian corridors in the Gaza Strip.

As the control of the stabilization force progresses, the Israeli army will withdraw according to agreed criteria and a timeline.

- We call on states and organizations to provide financial, logistical, and personnel support to the Peace Council and stabilization force in Gaza.

- The Peace Council is to submit a written report to the Security Council every six months regarding the progress made in Gaza.

- Participating states and the Peace Council are to establish operational entities with international authorities to manage the transitional governance.
