Katz: A Multinational Force Led by the U.S. Will Take Over Disarming Hamas
SadaNews - Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Katz revealed that "a multinational force led by the United States is supposed to take on the mission of disarming and demilitarizing Hamas in the Old Gaza," referring to the areas still controlled by the movement within the enclave.
Katz added that the process of destroying Hamas tunnels on the Israeli side of the yellow line in the Gaza Strip "is progressing well," according to the "Times of Israel" website.
He also clarified in a statement: "I was just informed by the Deputy Chief of Staff that the operation to destroy Hamas tunnels in Gaza is progressing well. The Israeli army is working to destroy the tunnels through detonations or by filling them and pumping liquid concrete into them in all areas under its control."
Netanyahu Emphasizes Disarming Hamas
Netanyahu stressed that Hamas "will be stripped of its weapons either the easy way or the hard way."
He stated at the beginning of the cabinet meeting on Sunday, "Gaza will be disarmed, and Hamas will be stripped of its weapons either the easy way or the hard way. I do not need reinforcements, tweets, or lectures from anyone."
He added that "our opposition to the establishment of a Palestinian state on any part of the land has not changed."
The U.S. administration continues its efforts to resolve the crisis of Hamas fighters trapped in the Rafah tunnels in southern Gaza in order to move to the second phase of the Gaza agreement, amid Tel Aviv's refusal to allow the besieged to exit without declaring their surrender and handing over their weapons.
