Russia: Foiling a Ukrainian Conspiracy to Assassinate a Senior Official
SadaNews - The Russian Federal Security Service announced on Friday that it foiled a Ukrainian conspiracy to assassinate a senior government official, whose name was not disclosed, and accused Kyiv of planning similar operations in other parts of the country, according to the Reuters agency.
It added in a statement that the Ukrainian conspiracy planned to kill the official during a visit to a family cemetery in Moscow.
Reuters could not independently verify these reports, but Ukraine has been targeting military officials and others within Russia since the Russian invasion began in February 2022.
This comes as the Ukrainian capital witnessed a massive Russian attack with missiles and drones in the early hours of Friday, affecting several areas and resulting in one death and injuries to others, according to local authorities. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that it shot down more than 200 Ukrainian drones on Thursday night into Friday.
