Al-Shara: Syria has entered a new era, and there are no imminent negotiations with Israel

SadaNews - Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara stated that his country has entered a new era following the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime, and it will develop a new strategy with the United States.

Al-Shara added in an interview with Fox News aired early today that Syria has been isolated from the world for the past 60 years and had a rift with the United States.

Regarding negotiations with Israel, Al-Shara stated that his country will not enter into negotiations with Israel at this time, explaining that "the Syrian situation is different from that of the countries that signed the Abraham Accords; we have borders with Israel, which occupies the Golan Heights, and we will not engage in direct negotiations with them now. Perhaps the U.S. administration under President Donald Trump could help us reach this type of negotiations."

Al-Shara confirmed in the same interview that he is in contact with the mother of American journalist Austin Tice, who is missing in Syria, and that he will do his utmost to find any information about him and the other missing persons.

Al-Shara had unprecedented talks with Trump at the White House on Monday.

The American president told reporters after the meeting that he wants Syria to "succeed" after the war that lasted more than a decade, expressing his belief that Al-Shara is "capable of achieving that."

This is the first time a Syrian president has visited the White House since the establishment of the Syrian state in the 1940s.
