Israeli Government: There Will Be No Turkish Troops in Gaza

SadaNews - On Sunday, Israeli government spokesperson Shosh Bedrosian stated that Turkish soldiers will not be deployed in Gaza as part of a multinational force that is supposed to replace the Israeli army in the region.

In response to a question, the spokesperson confirmed to reporters that "there will be no Turkish troops on the ground."

She added: "There will be no Turkish forces within the international stabilization force (in the region), neither now, nor in the past, nor in the future."

U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to end the two-year war calls for the establishment of a temporary international force to stabilize the area that will gradually replace the Israeli army in Gaza to take over security tasks.

This force has not yet been established, and many countries are calling for it to be granted a mandate from the United Nations Security Council.

This statement contrasts with what U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Tom Barak said at a security conference in Manama earlier this month, indicating that Turkey would participate in the mission. His remark was in response to questions regarding Israel's objections to deploying Turkish forces in Gaza.

Additionally, U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vance stated last month that Ankara could play a "constructive role" in Gaza, adding that Washington would not impose anything on Israel concerning foreign troops "on its territory," as he put it.
