Establishment of a Colonial Outpost East of Anata in Occupied Jerusalem

SadaNews - Today, Sunday, settlers established a new colonial outpost near the Abu Ghaliyeh and Al-Ara'ara Bedouin communities east of the town of Anata, east of occupied Jerusalem.

The General Supervisor of the Bider Human Rights Organization, Hassan Malihaat, explained to the official agency that the construction activities include laying foundations for mobile homes and moving construction equipment and tools, which poses a direct threat to the residents of the Bedouin communities and limits their ability to access their homes.

Malihaat confirmed that this step is part of a systematic policy to impose control over the land and aims to expand colonial presence in the region.

A report issued by the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission in early October revealed that after October 7, 2023, planning bodies in the occupying state studied a total of 182 structural plans for the purpose of constructing a total of 23,267 colonial units on an area of 14,000 dunams, with approval granted for 6,300 of those units, while 17,000 new colonial units were submitted.

These plans are concentrated in the Jerusalem Governorate with 65 structural plans, including 25 plans outside the municipal boundaries and 65 plans within them, followed by Salfit and Bethlehem Governorates with 22 structural plans each.

It added that settlers, under the protection of the occupying army, established 29 colonial outposts concentrated in the Hebron Governorate with 8 outposts, Ramallah with 6 outposts, Bethlehem with 4 outposts, and 3 others in Nablus, in addition to paving 7 roads to facilitate the movement of settlers and connect outposts to existing settlements. It pointed out that the occupying state has decided to legalize the status of 11 colonial outposts and convert them into settlements or settlement neighborhoods affiliated with existing settlements, and referred a total of 9 other outposts for legalization procedures.
