Turkish Judiciary Issues Arrest Warrants for Netanyahu, Ben Gvir, and Katz
SadaNews - The Istanbul Criminal Court issued, at the request of the Public Prosecutor, on Friday, arrest warrants for 37 individuals, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The statement indicated that arrest warrants have been issued against Netanyahu and other Israeli officials on charges of committing "crimes against humanity" and "genocide" due to the war in Gaza.
It was added that arrest warrants were also issued for Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir.
The Istanbul Public Prosecutor's Office stated that the arrest warrants target 37 suspects, but it did not publish a complete list of their names.
It clarified that "as a result of the genocide and crimes against humanity systematically committed by the State of Israel in Gaza, thousands of individuals, including women and children, have lost their lives, and thousands more have been injured, with residential areas becoming uninhabitable."
In a comment on this, the leader of the "Yisrael Beiteinu" party, Avigdor Lieberman, stated: "The arrest orders issued by Erdoğan against senior Israeli officials illustrate why Turkey should not be present in Gaza - whether directly or indirectly."
Netanyahu reiterated this week his rejection of Turkish forces participating in the international force intended to be deployed in Gaza.
Netanyahu stated in a conversation with senior reserve officers: "There will be no Turkish forces in Gaza."
Last year, Turkey joined a lawsuit filed by South Africa against Israel at the International Court of Justice, accusing Pretoria of genocide against Tel Aviv.
A peace plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump facilitated a fragile ceasefire in the region on October 10, following two years of the devastating war.
