The President Meets with His Colombian Counterpart
SadaNews - President Mahmoud Abbas met with Colombian President Gustavo Petro at his residence in Cairo, during his visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt to participate in the opening ceremonies of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
The president thanked his Colombian counterpart for his courage and principled positions, as well as for his country's support for the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people in all international forums, reflecting its respect for the principles of international law and the importance of establishing the rights of peoples to determine their own destiny without exception.
The president affirmed the State of Palestine's commitment to developing Palestinian-Colombian relations in various fields, expressing gratitude for the humanitarian and reconstruction aid that Colombia wishes to provide to the Palestinian people.
For his part, the Colombian president confirmed his country's support for a ceasefire, the release of all prisoners and hostages, the provision of humanitarian assistance, the achievement of comprehensive peace, and the attainment of freedom and independence for the Palestinian people.
Attending the meeting were: Member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization Ziad Abu Amro, the president's advisor on diplomatic affairs Majdi Khaldi, and the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Arab Republic of Egypt Diab Louh.
