"Prisoners' Authority": Prisoners Suffer Difficult Conditions in "Megiddo" Prison

SadaNews - The Prisoners and Released Prisoners Affairs Authority reported that the conditions of the prisoners in "Megiddo" prison have been deteriorating continuously since the ceasefire agreement in mid-October.

The "Prisoners' Authority" stated in a statement issued today, Sunday, that the living and health conditions of the prisoners have become worse than in previous periods, noting that they are suffering from repeated repression and beating, and the prison administration is transferring them from one room to another without prior notice, increasing the state of tension inside the sections.

It clarified that "free time" is not granted daily, while winter clothes have not yet been distributed despite the cold weather.

The authority's lawyer added that healthcare services are almost non-existent, and prisoners are not allowed to shower daily, but only during free time. Additionally, the quantity of food has decreased and is now less than before in terms of quality and quantity.

Moreover, shaving tools and nail clippers are provided very rarely, while very limited quantities of hygiene materials are distributed, such as shampoo which does not exceed a quarter of a plastic cup, and one roll of tissues for each prisoner per week.

In a related context, the authority indicated that on June 19, 2025, prisoner Abdul Aziz Abu Samra was shot three times by "Matzada" units during the repression of one of the sections in the prison. During the incident, prisoners Ahmad Al-Ghazawi and Nadim Zayed were also injured, but they were not transferred to the clinic or given any form of aid.

The authority affirmed that these practices constitute a blatant violation of the prisoners' human and legal rights, and it called on the relevant international bodies for urgent intervention to put an end to these violations and ensure the provision of humane detention conditions, in accordance with international laws.
