Trump Meets Emir of Qatar: Gaza Agreement Will Hold and Stability Force Will Be Ready Soon

SadaNews - On Saturday evening, U.S. President Donald Trump met with the Emir of Qatar and Prime Minister during his plane's stop en route to Asia.

The Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani boarded "Air Force One" after it landed at Al Udeid Air Base, which hosts the regional headquarters of the U.S. military and thousands of American soldiers.

Trump emphasized that the Qatari duo played a crucial role in the peace process in the Middle East, referring to the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

He stated that "peace must be sustainable in Gaza," noting that the stability force in the sector will be ready soon.

He added that "Qatar will send peacekeeping forces to Gaza when needed. I believe that the ceasefire in Gaza will hold, and I hope that the parties will adhere to what they have agreed upon."

Trump highlighted that "Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Turkey, Indonesia, and Jordan will be part of the stability force in Gaza."

He continued, "We are achieving real peace in the Middle East, which hasn't happened in 3,000 years, and what we have achieved in Gaza is a great success."

Joining these discussions was U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who had just returned from his visit to Israel as part of the comprehensive diplomatic efforts exerted by Washington in an attempt to stabilize the fragile ceasefire in effect since October 10 in the Gaza Strip.

This is Trump's first trip to Asia since taking office in January, with plans for two regional summits and meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and other leaders.

This week, the Emir of Qatar hosted Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to discuss the next highly sensitive steps in the agreement, including the establishment of a security force in Gaza and the fate of Hamas.
