Jordan Declares Its Position on Sending Troops to Gaza Strip
SadaNews - Jordan's Minister of Government Communication and official spokesperson for the Jordanian government, Mohammed Al-Momani, emphasized on Friday that Jordanian troops will not be sent to the Gaza Strip.
Al-Momani stated to Jordanian television: "We will not send Jordanian forces to the Gaza Strip," adding, "What we support regarding Gaza is the cessation of war, the introduction of humanitarian aid, a political process with a horizon, and the commencement of reconstruction."
He continued: "We will have no military role in the West Bank or Gaza Strip."
He added that "the Palestinian people deserve to decide their own fate," stressing that "displacement and assault on sacred places in Jerusalem is a red line."
He highlighted: "The recent Israeli policies towards the annexation of the West Bank are aggressive, and we thank the American and international efforts that have affirmed their position against the annexation of the West Bank."
He further stated: "The humanitarian role and Jordanian efforts to alleviate the suffering of our people in Gaza will continue and are a source of pride for every Jordanian and Arab, and we will not hesitate to provide everything that helps our brothers and our people in Gaza."
Earlier on Friday, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that an international security force in Gaza should "consist of countries that Israel feels comfortable with," noting that "several countries have proposed to participate."
