Meeting Between Hamas and Fatah in Egypt to Discuss the Future of Gaza Strip

SadaNews - Sources from Egypt stated this evening, Thursday, that a delegation from Hamas, headed by Khalil al-Hayya, is currently meeting in Cairo with a delegation from Fatah led by Hussein al-Sheikh, the Deputy President, and Majid Faraj, head of the Palestinian Intelligence Service.

Cairo is currently hosting discussions between Palestinian factions as part of the second phase of U.S. President Donald Trump's plan.

The sources added to "Cairo News Channel" that the delegations from Hamas and Fatah are discussing matters related to the national scene in general and arrangements following the ceasefire in Gaza.

Egypt is preparing to hold a conference for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip in the second half of next November.

Other sources confirmed to Al Jazeera that the meeting is convening to discuss matters concerning the Palestinian situation and arrangements following the ceasefire in Gaza.

The Palestinian news agency "Wafa" reported that Hussein al-Sheikh visited the Egyptian capital, Cairo, yesterday, Wednesday, accompanied by the head of the Palestinian Intelligence, General Majid Faraj, for consultations with Egyptian officials regarding the latest developments related to the Palestinian situation after the ceasefire.

Last Sunday, Hamas announced that a delegation from the movement, headed by Khalil al-Hayya, arrived in Cairo to follow up on the implementation of the ceasefire agreement with mediators and Palestinian factions and forces.

The Hamas delegation met with Egyptian officials in Cairo as part of consultations regarding the Palestinian dialogue that Egypt intends to host, which aims to discuss the future of Gaza after the war.

It is noteworthy that on September 29, 2025, the White House issued a detailed plan calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, followed by a comprehensive program for reconstruction and reorganization of the political and security situation in the sector.
