Organization of Islamic Cooperation Condemns Israeli Sovereignty Law over the West Bank and Welcomes International Court Opinion

SadaNews - The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation strongly condemned the Israeli Knesset's approval of a bill aimed at annexing the occupied West Bank and imposing the alleged sovereignty of the Israeli occupation over it, as well as another law to legitimize one of the settlements. These actions are considered a blatant violation of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions, as well as the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice and the New York Declaration.

The organization also welcomes the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice, which clearly affirmed Israel's legal and humanitarian obligations, and stressed the necessity of facilitating the work of humanitarian relief programs provided by the United Nations and its agencies, especially UNRWA, without hindrance, and holding accountable those responsible for assaults on its staff and facilities.

The organization reaffirms that the occupied Palestinian territories, including the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including the noble city of Jerusalem, constitute a single geographical unit over which Israel has no sovereignty, and that all its settlement actions and decisions are invalid and void under international law.

The Organization calls on the international community, especially the Security Council, to bear its responsibilities and take urgent action to stop these crimes and Israeli violations that undermine the two-state solution and international efforts to achieve justice, peace, and stability in the region.
