"Shave Your Head to Watch the Movie".. A Strange Condition for Those Wanting to Attend "Bugonia"

SadaNews - Typically, entering a cinema to watch a movie involves purchasing a ticket, but the distribution company for the film "Bugonia" has set a different condition for attending the early screening of the film: shaving one's head.

The company "Fox Features," which distributes the absurd comedy science fiction film, has announced a challenge for those wishing to attend the early screening of the movie starring Oscar-winning actress Emma Stone.

Stone and Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos have garnered a strong fan base after collaborating on the Oscar-nominated films "The Favourite" and "The Lobster."

"Bugonia" is set to premiere in select theaters on Friday before being released nationwide in the United States on October 31.

In "Bugonia", Stone plays a character named Michelle Fuller, a powerful executive in the pharmaceutical industry who is kidnapped by two of her relatives, who are convinced that she is an alien to the extent that they shave her head.

With a barber at the screening venue, fans like Sam Sherman from Los Angeles have come forward to shave their heads in order to gain entry to the screening. Sherman said: "I was already thinking about shaving my head."

He added: "I saw a post about this and I thought to myself, this is a perfect excuse since I want to watch Bugonia anyway. I can see it two weeks before its release or something, and get a free haircut and a free movie. It's hard to refuse that."

For his part, 29-year-old Matthew Lopez expressed his belief that the idea of screening the movie for those who shave their heads inspired by Stone's head shave was a great idea. He added, "It's a really exciting feeling, it's like saying: okay... I did it... I did it... I can feel a connection to the story."
