Burial of the Bodies of Dozens of Palestinian Prisoners in a Mass Grave in Deir al-Balah
SadaNews - The Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip reported that 10 bodies of Palestinian prisoners, which were held by the Israeli occupation, were buried today, Wednesday, in a mass grave in Deir al-Balah, confirming that many of them had suffered torture and horrific abuses.
The Director General of the Government Media Office in Gaza, Ismail al-Thawabteh, confirmed in a press conference the burial of 54 Palestinian martyrs whose bodies were held by the Israeli occupation and remain unidentified, as the occupation refused to provide official lists of the names of the martyrs.
Al-Thawabteh explained that the occupation returned the bodies of the martyrs showing clear signs of torture, and official examinations confirmed that the occupation committed horrific abuses against the martyrs. Some of them were executed by hanging or by close-range gunfire, which indicates the deliberate execution of field executions.
He mentioned that the bodies were held for the specified duration (about 5 days), and they were documented and photographed along with their belongings before being buried in numbered graves, as identification became impossible due to the disfigurement from torture.
He reiterated the demand for international bodies to send delegations to examine the bodies and investigate the abuses they faced, and to pursue and hold accountable the perpetrators of these massacres.
