Casualties in Russian Airstrikes on Kyiv
SadaNews - At least two people were killed and several others injured, while fires broke out in several residential towers, following Russian airstrikes targeting the Ukrainian capital Kyiv early this Wednesday morning.
The head of the local military administration in Kyiv, Timur Takhtachenko, announced that at least one of the deceased was in the Dniprovsky district, where the Russian attack caused a fire on the eighth and ninth floors of a residential building.
Takhtachenko clarified, in a post via the "Telegram" app, that rescue teams worked to extinguish the fires and evacuate residents from the damaged building.
For their part, Ukrainian officials reported that Russian drones participated in the attack that targeted the capital early this morning, confirming that the air defense continued its efforts to counter the repeated waves of attacks.
Ukrainian authorities stated that air defenses tried to intercept the attack, but some missiles hit populated areas within the city, causing extensive damage and fires in residential buildings.
Firefighting operations and the evacuation of residents from the affected towers took place amid warnings of the possibility of people being trapped under the rubble.
