Netanyahu: We Will Respond Strongly to Hamas's Attack on Our Forces

SadaNews - After the airstrikes conducted by the Israeli army earlier today, Sunday, on the Rafah area in the southern Gaza Strip, as well as Jabalia in the north and west of the Al-Zawayda area in the center of the Strip, the office of the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, confirmed that he ordered strong action in Gaza.

The Netanyahu office stated in a press release that the Prime Minister "issued instructions to act forcefully against terrorist targets in the Strip following Hamas's violation of the ceasefire."

It was also added that Netanyahu held consultations with the Minister of Defense and heads of security agencies.

This comes as the Israeli army announced that fighter planes from the Air Force carried out airstrikes in the Rafah area to eliminate a threat after "terrorists" fired at several soldiers.

IDF spokesman Avichai Adraee stated that "gunmen fired anti-tank missiles and shot at Israeli forces that were working to destroy infrastructure in the Rafah area, according to the terms of the agreement."

He emphasized that "these actions constituted a flagrant violation of the ceasefire agreement," confirming that the army would respond firmly and strongly.

Hamas Denies

In contrast, Hamas denied any knowledge of clashes occurring in the Strip. It confirmed in a statement that it has "no relation to any events happening outside the yellow line."

The movement also stressed its complete commitment to implementing everything that was agreed upon, primarily the ceasefire in all areas of the Gaza Strip. It stated, "We have no knowledge of any events or clashes occurring in the Rafah area, as these are red zones under Israeli control." It added that "communication has been cut off with the remaining groups there since the war resumed in March of this year, and it has no information on whether they were killed or are still alive since that date."
