Hamas Attacks Washington Statement: No Imminent Attack and the Occupation Fuels Chaos
SadaNews: Hamas stated in an official statement that it rejects the claims made in the U.S. State Department's statement, denying categorically the allegations against it regarding an "imminent attack" or "violation of the ceasefire agreement." It says that "these false allegations align perfectly with misleading Israeli propaganda and provide cover for the continued occupation's crimes and organized aggression against the Palestinian people."
The movement continued in its statement: "The facts on the ground reveal the opposite; the occupying authorities are the ones who formed, armed, and funded criminal gangs that carried out killings, kidnappings, and theft of aid trucks, as well as assaults against Palestinian civilians. They have openly confessed to their crimes through media and video footage, confirming the occupation's involvement in spreading disorder and undermining security."
Hamas affirmed that "the police forces in Gaza, with widespread civilian support, are fulfilling their national duty in pursuing these gangs and holding them accountable through clear legal mechanisms, protecting citizens and safeguarding public and private property."
The movement urged the U.S. administration to stop repeating the occupation's misleading narrative and to focus on curbing its repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement, primarily supporting these gangs and providing them safe havens within the areas under its control.
U.S. State Department Statement:
The U.S. State Department said in a statement: "We have informed the guarantor countries of reliable reports of an imminent violation of the agreement by Hamas against the residents of Gaza."
It continued: "The planned attack against civilians in Gaza constitutes a direct and serious violation of the ceasefire agreement."
It stated: "The attack Hamas is planning undermines the significant progress achieved through mediation efforts."
The U.S. State Department mentioned in its statement: "The guarantor countries of the Gaza agreement demand that Hamas fulfill its obligations under the ceasefire terms."
It added: "If Hamas proceeds with the attack, measures will be taken to protect the residents of Gaza and maintain the ceasefire."
It concluded: "The guarantor countries are steadfast in their commitment to ensuring the safety of civilians and maintaining calm on the ground."
