Human Rights Watch Calls on Occupation Authorities to Lift Siege on Gaza Strip
SadaNews: The organization Human Rights Watch stated today, Thursday, that the Israeli occupation authorities must fully lift their siege on the Gaza Strip and allow reconstruction without restrictions, following the widespread destruction caused by the recent war.
The international human rights organization confirmed in a statement that the ongoing Israeli siege, which has lasted for more than 17 years, constitutes a collective punishment for the more than two million residents of the Gaza Strip and violates international humanitarian law.
It emphasized the necessity of supporting accountability for the serious crimes committed in Gaza during the war, including attacks targeting civilians and critical infrastructure, calling on the international community to take tangible steps to ensure justice and prevent impunity.
Human Rights Watch explained that ending the siege and allowing reconstruction are essential conditions for achieving humanitarian and political stability in the sector, noting that the continuation of Israeli restrictions exacerbates the humanitarian crisis and hinders any recovery efforts.
