New Incursion of Israeli Occupation Forces in Southwestern Syria

SadaNews - Israeli military vehicles have incursioned into the northern countryside of Quneitra province in southwestern Syria, without any arrests reported among the citizens, according to Syrian state media yesterday, Wednesday.

The Syrian News Channel stated on the "X" platform that "an Israeli patrol has infiltrated the village of Ofania in the northern countryside of Quneitra, raiding two houses without any arrests."

It added that "a second patrol consisting of 8 military vehicles, including a heavy bulldozer and two tanks, advanced towards the town of Eastern Samdania, and stationed for several hours around Tel Karoum Jabba before withdrawing towards the destroyed city of Quneitra."

There has been no immediate comment from the Syrian government regarding the nature of these incursions and their outcomes, nor has Tel Aviv spoken about this, or its objectives behind the incursion, which continues its ongoing violations of Syrian sovereignty.

Although the new Syrian administration, in place since late December 2024, has not posed any threat to Tel Aviv, the Israeli army has repeatedly advanced into Syria and conducted airstrikes that killed civilians and destroyed military sites and vehicles and arms and ammunition belonging to the army.

Since 1967, Israel has occupied most of the Syrian Golan Heights, exploiting the events surrounding the ousting of the ousted president Bashar al-Assad in late 2024 to expand its occupation area.

On December 8, 2024, Tel Aviv announced the collapse of the disengagement agreement signed between Israel and Syria on May 31, 1974, and the occupation of the Israeli army of the demilitarized buffer zone in the occupied Golan Heights, which later expanded into other areas outside its borders.
