Netanyahu Talks About His Next Plan in Gaza and Faces Trump's Assessment of His Behavior
SadaNews - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, wanted by the International Criminal Court, spoke in an interview with CBS News about the next steps in the agreement to end the war in Gaza, and commented on U.S. President Donald Trump's description of him as "not the easiest person to deal with."
Netanyahu stated that the conditions of Trump's 20-point plan to end the war are "very clear," noting that it is not limited to releasing Israeli hostages but also involves "disarmament and removing the military character" in the Gaza Strip.
He continued, saying, "We agreed to accomplish the first part of the plan and to allow the opportunity for a peaceful implementation of the second part of it."
He added, "If the second part is not implemented peacefully, I have heard President Trump say that the gates of hell will open."
Under the agreement reached in Sharm El Sheikh, mediated by Qatar, Egypt, Turkey, and the United States regarding the first phase of Trump's plan, the ceasefire in Gaza came into effect last Friday, the occupying army partially withdrew, and a prisoner exchange took place between the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Israel.
Coinciding with the release of prisoners, Trump delivered a speech before the Knesset last Monday, announcing the end of the war, and then participated in a summit in Sharm El Sheikh with leaders from Qatar, Egypt, Turkey, and about 20 countries, where a guarantee document was signed regarding the agreement.
When asked during the interview why Trump described him in his speech before the Knesset as not being easy, Netanyahu said, "I hope he says that because I am very firm on matters relating to the future of Israel."
He added that his responsibility as a leader of Israel is to ensure the removal of any dangers threatening its existence, as he expressed it.
Trump emphasized that the war on Gaza has ended and expressed confidence that the agreement will hold, despite Netanyahu's reluctance to issue a clear declaration in this regard.
The U.S. President stated in remarks to reporters at the White House yesterday (Tuesday) that the second phase of the Gaza agreement has begun, and that Hamas has informed the United States that it will abandon its weapons. He added, "If they do not, we will take care of it." However, the group has not issued any statement in this regard.
U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that the second phase of the Gaza agreement has now begun, stating that he spoke with Hamas and also mentioned that discussions with Hamas were with U.S. officials at the highest levels.
