United Nations: Israel Informed Us of Halving Aid Trucks to Gaza
SadaNews: The United Nations confirmed that it received a notice from the Israeli occupation authorities indicating their intention to reduce the number of aid trucks scheduled to enter the Gaza Strip by half, from about 600 trucks that Israel had pledged to allow through after the ceasefire.
Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Farhan Haq, stated at a press conference held yesterday evening that the Israeli government's Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories had officially informed the organization of its decision to reduce the number of trucks heading to Gaza, citing reasons related to the return of bodies.
Haq added: "We are aware of what was stated in the letter from the Israeli Coordinator of Government Activities in the areas," noting that the United Nations is striving to deliver as much humanitarian aid as possible to Gaza.
He reaffirmed that the international organization demands all parties to adhere to their commitments, including the return of deceased prisoners' bodies, and to implement the other terms of the ceasefire agreement, primarily ensuring the flow of humanitarian aid to civilians in the sector.
