Israeli Chief of Staff: We Continue to Achieve the Remaining War Objectives

SadaNews - On Sunday evening, Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir announced "victory" over Hamas, emphasizing that the occupying army will continue to "achieve the remaining war objectives." Zamir stated in a video message that "the military pressure we exerted over the past two years, along with the complementary political actions, represent a victory over Hamas." He added, "We will continue to achieve the remaining war objectives through our operations." He mentioned that Israel is "reshaping the face of the Middle East and our security strategy for the coming years." The Israeli Chief of Staff continued that "the safety of our troops in battle and the captives has been a central consideration throughout the course of the fighting, and we have acted with precision, professionalism, and responsibility, making complex decisions to ensure the safety of the hostages and significantly limit casualties among our forces." Zamir also appointed Northern Command Chief Yaki Dolf as head of the center that will link the occupying army with the international oversight mechanism in Gaza, which will operate under the supervision of Deputy Chief of Staff Tamir Yadai. Zamir had said last Thursday that his army would have to complete operational tasks in the field, in preparation for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, according to a ceasefire agreement. During his presence in the sector that day, according to a statement issued by the occupying army, the Chief of Staff stated, "Thanks to the significant military pressure and the strong and qualitative ground invasion, you fighters created the conditions for the return of the captives to their homes; military action is what achieved the political accomplishment." Israel has threatened to continue the war on Gaza after it recovers its captives, which is expected to take place tomorrow, under the pretext of destroying tunnels and workshops used by Hamas to manufacture weapons. Israeli Security Minister Israel Katz wrote earlier on Sunday on the platform "X" that "Israel's greatest challenge after the stage of retrieving the hostages will be to demolish all of Hamas's tunnels in Gaza, directly by the Israeli army and the international system, which will be led and overseen by the United States." Katz claimed that resuming Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip is "essential to implementing the principle that was agreed upon regarding the disarmament of Gaza and neutralizing Hamas from its weapons. I have instructed the Israeli army to prepare to carry out this mission."
