Vance: No Plans to Send US Ground Troops to Gaza or Israel

SadaNews - JD Vance, the U.S. Vice President, confirmed that there are no plans to send ground troops to Gaza or Israel, noting that Hamas will hand over the detainees at any moment now.

Two days ago, Reuters news agency reported, citing two senior U.S. officials, that the United States would deploy 200 military personnel as part of a joint task force to ensure stability in Gaza, without any actual U.S. presence on the ground in the Palestinian enclave.

According to what Reuters reported from a senior U.S. official, the special joint task force in Gaza "will include soldiers from Egypt and Qatar."

The Associated Press also quoted U.S. officials saying that the United States "will send about 200 soldiers to Israel to help support and monitor the ceasefire agreement in Gaza as part of a team that includes partner countries, NGOs, and private sector entities."

The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss unauthorized details, indicated that the U.S. Central Command would establish a "Civil-Military Coordination Center" in Israel that would help facilitate the flow of humanitarian aid as well as logistical and security assistance to the war-torn territories.

Additionally, AFP reported from U.S. officials stating that "200 American troops will oversee the proper implementation of the Gaza agreement."

Israel announced on Thursday that all parties involved signed in Egypt the final draft of the agreement on the first phase of President Donald Trump's plan regarding Gaza.

This represents a key milestone towards ending the two-year-long war in the besieged and devastated Palestinian enclave, which has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and caused a humanitarian disaster according to the United Nations.
