EU Welcomes Ceasefire in Gaza

Translation by SadaNews - The European Union welcomed the agreement on the first phase of the comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza, proposed by President Trump, to ensure an immediate ceasefire and the release of all hostages, with the agreement of all parties, including the Government of Israel.

The Union called in its statement, as SadaNews translated, for all parties to fully implement the agreement without delay, allowing for a permanent ceasefire to be established, the release of hostages, and the guaranteed unobstructed access and wide distribution of humanitarian aid throughout Gaza.

The European Union praised the diplomatic efforts led by the United States, supported, among others, by Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates, in negotiating this achievement, which we have consistently supported, it said.

It added: This is a real opportunity to end the devastating war and humanitarian suffering, and to build a credible political pathway toward lasting peace and security based on a two-state solution, also reminding of the high-level conference on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution in New York, co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia.

The statement said: The European Union stands ready to contribute to the implementation of the comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza through the various tools available to it, based on its unwavering commitment and strong support for peace in the region.

It added: The European Union will continue to support the rapid, safe, and unobstructed delivery of humanitarian aid, working closely with United Nations agencies and international non-governmental organizations, and in accordance with international law.

It continued: The European Union stands ready to contribute to the stability and reconstruction of Gaza, including fully utilizing the EU's border assistance mission in Rafah and the European police mission.

The European Union emphasized that it will continue to support the Palestinian Authority, including within the framework of its ongoing reforms, and in the context of its return to Gaza, as well as through the Palestine donors' group.
