Occupation Army Prepares for Redeployment Under Gaza Agreement
SadaNews - The Israeli occupation army announced today, Thursday, that it has begun operational preparations ahead of implementing the Gaza agreement based on directives from political leadership, amid reports of military units beginning to exit the sector.
The Israeli army stated in a report that it is working on establishing a "combat protocol for soon transitioning to adjusted deployment lines," confirming that it continues to operate within the sector for the time being.
For its part, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority confirmed that three brigades of the Israeli army have begun exiting the city of Gaza.
It stated that the army fears clashes with Palestinians who will attempt to return north today, thus the forces are preparing to leave Gaza and its suburbs, and will relocate to the yellow line, which is the first withdrawal line stipulated in U.S. President Donald Trump's plan.
Following the announcement of the agreement regarding the first phase of Trump's plan for Gaza, the Israeli army welcomed the signing of the agreement late last night in a statement issued early today.
It reported that Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir has instructed all forces in Gaza to prepare for all scenarios, confirming that troop deployments will be carried out according to directives from political leadership and phases of the agreement.
Early on Thursday, Trump announced the agreement between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on the first phase of his plan to stop the war and exchange prisoners.
The Israeli government is scheduled to ratify the agreement this afternoon, preparing to commence its implementation, including a gradual withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.
The U.S. network "ABC" previously explained, citing a White House official, that the withdrawal towards the boundary line in Gaza will take less than 24 hours from the time Tel Aviv approves the agreement.
The Israeli army had previously announced, through statements in recent weeks, that three military brigades are operational in the city of Gaza and its surroundings.
