Hamas and Israeli Security Sources: The Atmosphere of Negotiations is Filled with Optimism

SadaNews - Israeli security sources considered today, Wednesday, that there is a high likelihood of progress in the ongoing negotiations in Sharm El Sheikh regarding U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to stop the war on Gaza and exchange prisoners, and that it is possible to reach an agreement in the coming days.

The sources stated that the Americans are more committed than ever to reaching a deal soon, and that Trump is intensively involved in the negotiations, according to what was reported by the website of the newspaper "Haaretz".

Trump is considering responding to the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to participate in the signing of the agreement, if reached, and in other ceremonies related to the agreement.

According to the newspaper, the American commitment comes alongside pressures from Qatar, Turkey, and Egypt on Hamas, and Turkey's involvement in the negotiations is significant due to the strong relationship between Trump and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who does not want to appear as someone who failed to achieve successes for his American friend.

The newspaper continued that the current question mark relates to the map of the withdrawal of the Israeli army from the Gaza Strip, after Hamas objected to the withdrawal lines drawn by the American administration, and is demanding a commitment to a complete Israeli withdrawal, with expectations for talks between the United States and Israel regarding this matter.

Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer arrived in Sharm El Sheikh and will lead the Israeli negotiating delegation. U.S. President's envoy Steve Wheatcroft, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and head of the Hamas negotiating delegation Khalil Hayya also arrived in Sharm.

The media advisor to the head of Hamas's political bureau, Taher al-Nounou, stated today that the current atmosphere of the indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel on their third day is filled with optimism, and that Hamas has presented the necessary positivity and responsibility to make progress and finalize the agreement.

He pointed out that the negotiations, involving all parties and mediators, focused on discussions about the mechanisms for implementing the ceasefire and the complete withdrawal of occupation forces from the Gaza Strip.

He reported that today there was an exchange of lists of names of the prisoners to be released according to the previously agreed criteria and numbers, and that the mediators are making great efforts to remove any obstacles to the steps of implementing the ceasefire.
