Israeli Navy Attacks Freedom Fleet Heading to Gaza
SadaNews - The Global Resilience Fleet administration announced via X platform this Wednesday morning that the Israeli Navy attacked the Freedom Fleet heading to Gaza to break the blockade on the region.
The International Committee to Break the Gaza Blockade stated that the Israeli army attacked the Freedom Fleet in international waters, 222 kilometers away from the Gaza Strip.
Surveillance cameras from the Freedom Fleet broadcast footage of Israeli soldiers boarding several ships and detaining participants on board.
Reuters reported that the Freedom Fleet administration said that the Israeli army is jamming signals and boarded at least two ships.
In the meantime, Reuters quoted the Israeli Foreign Ministry stating that the ships and passengers aboard the Freedom Fleet "are safe and were transferred to an Israeli port."
The Israeli Foreign Ministry indicated that the passengers of the Freedom Fleet ships will be deported immediately.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry described the Freedom Fleet attempt as "another futile attempt to breach the naval blockade and enter a war zone ending with nothing."
The fleet consists of 11 ships, which set sail from Italy on the 25th of last month.
Hours prior to this interception, Israeli Channel 13 announced that the occupation army is preparing to control another fleet that set sail from Italy, expected to arrive at the Gaza Strip tonight.
The Israeli channel reported security forces estimating that facing this fleet could be more complex.
The ships of the Freedom Fleet Coalition continued their sailing directly towards the Gaza Strip after setting off from the Italian island of Sicily on the 25th of last month, and the campaign organizers insisted on continuing their attempts to reach the Gaza Strip despite the interceptions.
The ship "Al-Dhamir" sailed as part of the Freedom Fleet carrying dozens of journalists and international medical workers from 25 countries.
The paramedics and media representatives aboard this ship are striving to reach their colleagues in the Freedom Fleet to break the Israeli blockade on Gaza.
The "Al-Dhamir" ship was subjected to an Israeli attack off the coast of Malta last May.
It is noteworthy that Israel attacked the Global Resilience Fleet last Wednesday evening while it was sailing towards the Gaza coast and detained hundreds of activists who were on board 42 ships, before releasing most of them.
The Israeli Navy seized 42 ships belonging to the Global Resilience Fleet last Wednesday evening while sailing in international waters towards Gaza and arrested hundreds of international activists on board, transferring them to Ketziot Prison (south) before announcing the beginning of their deportation later.
The Freedom Fleet, along with the previous Global Resilience Fleet that set sail in late August, represents the latest attempt by activists to challenge the Israeli naval blockade on the Gaza Strip, which is undergoing what can be described as genocide by the Israeli occupation forces that have resulted in over 67 thousand martyrs, in addition to tens of thousands of wounded, widespread destruction of infrastructure, and an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.
