The Occupation Continues Bombing Gaza Despite Claims of Reducing Its Operations and Trump's Request to Halt Bombing Immediately
SadaNews - Since dawn on Saturday, the Israeli occupation army has killed 29 Palestinians, including a child, and injured others in ongoing attacks on the Gaza Strip, ignoring U.S. President Donald Trump's call on Friday evening to immediately stop the bombing of the region.
In response to Hamas's announcement of its agreement to release prisoners according to his proposal, Trump stated that he believes Hamas has become "ready for lasting peace," urging Israel to stop bombing Gaza "immediately" to facilitate the release of Israeli prisoners.
Reports indicate that the Israeli occupation army continues to open fire on displaced individuals after warning them to leave, pursuing them in their shelters, in addition to directly targeting humanitarian service providers in Gaza City.
This is despite the U.S. President Donald Trump's call for Israel to immediately halt its military operations in the Gaza Strip, following Hamas's announcement late Friday to Saturday agreeing to release all living Israeli prisoners and the bodies of their dead according to the exchange formula outlined in Trump's plan to end the war on Gaza; Hamas expressed its willingness to enter immediate negotiations to discuss the details of this.
The Israeli Prime Minister's Office, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, announced early Saturday that Israel is "preparing for the immediate implementation of the first phase of Trump's plan to release all hostages immediately," confirming ongoing work in cooperation with the U.S. administration to end the war according to "Israeli principles compatible with President Trump's vision."
Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir also instructed his forces to prepare to implement the first phase of the plan, following a special session to assess the situation. According to Israeli reports, the political level has directed the military to cease the occupation of Gaza City and to reduce military operations in the Strip to a defensive minimum after overnight talks with U.S. officials to evaluate recent developments.
