Egypt: We are trying to convince Hamas to positively respond to Trump's plan
SadaNews - Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Atti said on Thursday that Cairo is working with Qatar and Turkey to convince the Hamas movement to accept U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to end the war in the Gaza Strip.
He added in statements made at the French Institute for International Relations: "We are meeting with them. We are coordinating with our brothers in Qatar, and also with our colleagues in Turkey, to convince Hamas to positively respond to this plan."
He emphasized that Trump's plan needs further discussion on how to implement it, especially regarding governance and security arrangements.
He said: "There are many gaps we need to fill regarding the plan."
He added: "The plan for Gaza can be implemented on the ground if there is political will, but it requires participation."
He affirmed his country's support for Trump's plan and vision to end the war in Gaza, saying that we need to move forward.
Trump gave Hamas a deadline of three to four days on Tuesday to accept the U.S.-backed plan regarding Gaza.
