Jordan’s Foreign Ministry: We are monitoring the situation of Jordanians on board the Freedom Flotilla and hold the occupation responsible for their safety
SadaNews - The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced that it is monitoring the situation of Jordanians on board the international Freedom Flotilla heading to the Gaza Strip, which was intercepted by Israel in international waters.
The Ministry emphasized that it holds the occupation responsible for their safety and warns against exposing them to any harm.
The official spokesperson for the Ministry, Fuad Majali, confirmed that the Ministry, through the Operations and Consular Affairs Directorate, is directly communicating with some Jordanian citizens to inquire about their situation, and is taking all necessary actions and communications to ensure their safety, respect their rights, and secure their return to Jordan.
Majali also indicated that the Ministry will provide any necessary assistance for the evacuation of citizens of brotherly and friendly countries that request this from the Ministry.
Majali considered the attack on the flotilla a blatant violation of international law, a threat to freedom of navigation, and a risk to the lives of civilians.
Majali stressed the need for the international community to bear its legal and moral responsibilities and to compel Israel to respect its obligations under international law and international humanitarian law, and to lift all restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid to Gaza to address the exceptional disaster caused by the Israeli aggression on the Strip.
