"Fleet of Resilience" 825 km from Gaza Threatened by Two Drones

SadaNews - The global "Fleet of Resilience" aimed at breaking the Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip announced today, Sunday, that it is now only about 825 kilometers away from the strip.

The "Fleet of Resilience", which includes more than 50 boats heading towards Gaza to open a humanitarian corridor and break the Israeli siege, has faced attacks from drones believed to be executed by Israel, resulting in several explosions and communication disruptions, with no reported human casualties.

The "Fleet of Resilience" continues its sailing towards the besieged Gaza and includes the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, the Global Gaza Movement, the Resilience Convoy, and the Malaysian organization "Solidarity Nusaantara", carrying more than 500 activists from around 45 countries, including 54 French nationals and 15 Belgians, alongside prominent doctors and activists including Swedish activist Greta Thunberg.

One activist aboard the fleet's "Alma" boat reported in a short video on the fleet's account on the "X" platform that they recorded drone movements during the last night, as two drones flew low over the fleet's boats without carrying out any attack.

The activists confirmed their intention to continue sailing towards Gaza, "despite the Israeli threats".

Both Italy and Spain announced the dispatch of naval ships to escort the global Fleet of Resilience seeking to break the ongoing Israeli siege on Gaza, following the fleet's attack by drones.

Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto stated he decided to send a second naval ship to assist the fleet, vehemently condemning the attack that targeted the global Fleet of Resilience with drones last Tuesday.

For his part, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez also announced the dispatch of a naval ship to escort the fleet in anticipation of potential attacks.

At the end of August, dozens of ships set sail from the Spanish port of Barcelona as part of the fleet, carrying humanitarian aid especially medical supplies, followed by another convoy in the early hours of September 1st from the port of Genoa in northwestern Italy, along with other boats from Morocco and Tunisia.

The occupation has previously engaged in acts of piracy against ships heading to Gaza, seizing them and deporting the activists onboard.

This is the first time dozens of ships are sailing together towards Gaza in a collective attempt to break the Israeli siege on the strip.
