Israeli Newspaper: Unveiling Israel's Plan for the Resilience Caravan
Sada News - Urgent discussions are taking place in Israel regarding the release of participants in the Global Resilience Fleet after its interception, particularly those attempting for a second time to break the blockade like Greta Thunberg. Tel Aviv views the convoy not only as propaganda for the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) but also believes it is funded by them.
The Israeli newspaper "Israel Hayom" learned that the political and security systems in Tel Aviv are preparing to deal with the new fleet heading to Gaza over the weekend or early next week, and discussions have taken place on how to manage interactions with it at all administrative levels.
The newspaper pointed out that an option was suggested to allow the boats to sail directly to Gaza as planned by the participants, in order to avoid an image of confrontation with the army. However, for security and legal reasons, the final decision was to reject that, according to Ariel Kahana's report for the Israeli newspaper.
Legal officials explained that Israel has declared a naval blockade and must enforce it without exception. Security officials indicated that the ships may contain ammunition, necessitating an inspection of their contents before allowing them to pass. For these reasons, it was decided to deal with the new fleet in a manner similar to how the previous fleet was handled.
Accordingly, once the fleet reaches the maritime boundaries of Gaza, the Israeli army will issue a warning to the boats. If they cooperate, they will be directed to one of Israel's ports; otherwise, the army will seize them by force and tow them to Israeli shores, according to the newspaper.
After reaching the country, participants will be subjected to legal procedures similar to those that took place last time; however, their release this time, especially for those participating in a second attempt to break the blockade, like Greta Thunberg, is still under discussion, according to the newspaper.
The newspaper mentioned that intelligence information in Israel states that the fleet is not only designed to support Hamas propaganda but is also financed and organized by the movement, meaning it is intended to be a media trick from start to finish.
Based on this background - as the newspaper describes - there is, along with operational preparations, an intense and coordinated public relations effort by the Israeli Foreign Ministry, the army, the Israel Police, and other agencies monitoring the fleet and preparing to deal with it.
The newspaper concluded by reminding that Italy and Israel offered participants in the fleet the option to unload the contents of the ships at legitimate ports in the Middle East, subject to security checks, and then transport them to the Gaza Strip through traditional routes, but they rejected that.
