Whittakoff and Kushner to Netanyahu: Trump Interested in Ending Gaza War
SadaNews - The Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that U.S. President Donald Trump's envoy, Steve Whittakoff, and his former advisor, Jared Kushner, made it clear to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that President Trump is interested in ending the war in the Gaza Strip.
The authority noted that Israel has expressed its willingness to grant immunity to Hamas leaders and not to target them if a potential deal is reached.
Channel 13 reported that pressure from President Trump on Netanyahu to stop the war has significantly increased in recent days.
Green Light from Netanyahu
At the same time, the White House began negotiating with Israel regarding the details of the agreement led by Trump, as the U.S. president seeks a green light from Netanyahu to complete the deal.
In his latest statements, Trump declared that it is time to end the war in Gaza. He added in remarks to reporters in the Oval Office that he spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday, Thursday.
He also talked to all the leaders in the Middle East, indicating that reaching an agreement on Gaza and possibly even peace is very close.
Peace Plan
Trump confirmed to reporters that he will not allow Israel to annex the West Bank, rejecting calls from some right-wing politicians in Tel Aviv who want to extend sovereignty over the area and extinguish hopes for the establishment of a Palestinian state.
The U.S. special envoy Steve Whittakoff stated on Wednesday that Trump presented a peace plan to leaders of several countries in a meeting held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
The first stage of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, which lasted 42 days starting from January 19, ended in early March without reaching an agreement on the subsequent stages aimed at ensuring a permanent end to the bloody war that erupted on October 7, 2023.
