Syrian Army Foils Attempt to Smuggle Drug Shipment on the Border with Lebanon
SadaNews - The Syrian Defense Ministry announced that army forces thwarted an attempt to smuggle a drug shipment near the town of Dabousiya in western Homs, on the border with Lebanon, after a clash with a group of smugglers.
The media department of the Syrian Defense Ministry reported today, Friday, that army units spotted a group of smugglers around Dabousiya and thwarted the smuggling operation, confirming that no injuries were recorded among the troops during the clash, according to what was reported by the "Syria TV" platform.
The Defense Ministry affirmed that the army continues to pursue the smugglers in the border area and emphasized the ongoing security operations to curb smuggling attempts and prevent gang infiltration across the Lebanese border.
Earlier, Syrian security forces had seized 752 pieces of hashish and 126 kilograms of the same substance hidden inside a cave on the Lebanese border after they were smuggled from Lebanon in July.
