Israel Decides to Close the "Karama" Crossing Until Further Notice
SadaNews - The head of the Palestinian Crossing and Borders Authority, Nazmi Mehanna, stated: "The Israeli side has informed us of the closure of the Karama crossing starting tomorrow, Wednesday, September 24, 2025, until further notice in both directions."
In response, the Israeli army radio reported: In the first "possible" Israeli reaction following the recognition of a Palestinian state, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has instructed the complete closure of the Allenby crossing to the movement of goods and individuals, until further notice.
It continued: The Allenby crossing is a vital artery for the movement of Palestinians and the Palestinian Authority, as it is primarily used for travel and the transport of goods between Jordan and the Palestinian territories. Senior officials of the Palestinian Authority also cross through it regularly.
It added: So far, no official comment has been issued from the Israeli Prime Minister's office regarding whether this decision is a direct response to international recognition of a Palestinian state, although the timing raises questions in this regard, according to SadaNews translation.
