Macron Announces France's Recognition of the State of Palestine
SadaNews - French President Emmanuel Macron announced his country's recognition of the State of Palestine during a speech at the high-level international conference for a peaceful resolution to the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution, which began in New York on Monday evening. President Emmanuel Macron stated that we can no longer wait to recognize the Palestinian state, adding, "We bear a collective responsibility for our failure so far to build a just peace in the Middle East." Macron pointed out that the promise of establishing an Arab state in Palestine has yet to be realized, and we have a duty to chart a path for peace in the Middle East, doing everything we can to preserve the possibility of a two-state solution. He stated that Israel continues its operations in Gaza with the declared aim of destroying Hamas, yet the lives of thousands of Gazans are still being devastated. He added that "there is no justification for what is happening in Gaza and the war must end to save lives." He expressed sympathy for the Israelis, called for the unconditional release of prisoners held by Hamas, and said that "the brutality of Hamas and those who collaborated with it on October 7, 2023, shocked Israel and the world," as he expressed.
