After the Israeli Closure.. A Stifling Crisis at the Karameh Crossing and King Hussein Bridge (Video)

SadaNews reports that the Palestinian Karameh crossing and the King Hussein Bridge from the Jordanian side are experiencing an unprecedented traffic crisis that hinders the movement of Palestinians wishing to travel or return home, amid a state of security tension and strict measures.

This crisis comes in the wake of the complete closure imposed by the Israeli occupation authorities on the Allenby Bridge (the Israeli bridge) on Friday, in addition to the suspension of travel during working hours on Thursday, following a shooting incident at the crossing that resulted in the deaths of two Israeli soldiers and serious injuries to others.

According to Israeli accounts, the perpetrator of the operation is a Jordanian citizen who was driving a humanitarian aid truck coming from Jordan to the Gaza Strip, who opened fire on Israeli security personnel, before being reported as martyred in an exchange of fire. Reports indicate that the operation involved gunfire and stabbing, prompting the occupation army to carry out combing and cordoning operations in the vicinity of Jericho city.

The Jordanian Bridges Security Administration announced that the King Hussein Bridge will be reopened to travelers on the coming Sunday, 21/9/2025, while the commercial crossing (cargo) will remain closed until further notice. No announcement has been made by official Palestinian authorities.

In light of these developments, the area around the crossing is experiencing severe congestion, as it is expected that procedures for receiving travelers will be halted before the end of official working hours, further complicating the situation and exacerbating the suffering of citizens who have been waiting for long hours in difficult conditions.

Jordanian and Palestinian authorities are monitoring the developments, amid calls to facilitate traveler movement and alleviate burdens on them, as investigations into the circumstances of the security operation continue.
