Norwegian Journalists' Union Organizes Protest in Support of Palestinian Journalists
SadaNews - The Norwegian Journalists' Union, with the participation of a large number of its members and leaders from journalists' unions in Sweden, Finland, and Iceland, organized a protest in front of the Norwegian Parliament to demand an end to the targeting and killing of Palestinian journalists, and to enable foreign journalists to enter the Gaza Strip.
During the protest, the union called on the Norwegian government to utilize Norway's position in the United Nations and the European Union to demand the allowance of foreign journalists' entry and the provision of protection for local journalists.
The participants also urged the Norwegian government to raise its voice and explicitly condemn the Israeli blockade imposed on humanitarian aid and the assaults on journalists, support the opening of an international investigation into systematic starvation as a war crime, and pressure to ensure the freedom of movement of people and goods to and from Gaza and the West Bank.
During the event, a message from the Palestinian Journalists' Union head, Nasser Abu Bakr, was read to the Norwegian Union of Journalists, which received a warm welcome from the attendees who responded with enthusiastic applause.
