Foreign Ministry: The international silence on the expiration of the legal period for implementing the advisory opinion serves as a cover for the occupation

SadaNews - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates stated on Friday that it views with grave concern the expiration of the legal period set by the United Nations General Assembly a year ago for the occupying power to implement the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice and end its occupation of Palestinian territory, without any genuine and effective stance from the international community and the United Nations, especially the Security Council.

The ministry pointed out in a statement that Israel, the occupying power, not only failed to adhere to that timeframe but also escalated its violations of international law and international legitimacy decisions, defying signed agreements and disregarding the precautionary orders issued by the International Court of Justice, deepening crimes of extermination, displacement, and annexation, in an unprecedented disregard for international law, the United Nations Charter, and the international consensus to halt the extermination war against the Palestinian people. It stated.

The ministry reiterated that the international community's mere reliance on United Nations resolutions that are not implemented and lack binding international mechanisms to compel the occupying state to fulfill its obligations and comply with the international will for peace represents a form of international coexistence with the continuation of the occupation and its violations, leveling it to the status of complicity.

The ministry warned of the risks stemming from the Israeli contempt for the global system and its foundations, and the international community's inability to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities towards what the Palestinian people are subjected to, especially the loss of what remains of the credibility of the United Nations and its institutions and their ability to implement the provisions of the charter upon which they were founded, leading to encouraging the occupation to persist in committing more crimes and replacing international legality and peaceful solutions to the conflict with the law of the jungle and the arrogance of brute force.
