Occupation authorities demolish 40 houses in the village of Al-Sar in the Negev

SadaNews - The Israeli authorities demolished 40 houses in the village of Al-Sar, one of the unrecognized and threatened villages in the Negev region, on Wednesday.

Local sources reported that the Israeli police fired sound bombs and smoke grenades at the protesting residents, while fires broke out inside many of the homes after their owners set them ablaze in response to the arrival of Israeli vehicles and bulldozers for the demolition, causing confrontations and assaults on citizens.

The residents of Al-Sar are facing a widespread wave of home demolitions that threaten to displace dozens of families, as about 50 families have received immediate demolition orders for their homes.

This step follows the demolition of about 30 homes last week, leaving many residents homeless under harsh conditions.

The village has a population of about 1,500, and residents confirm that the Israeli authorities provide no alternative solutions, but continue demolition operations and uprooting trees to prevent residents from returning to their lands.

The residents of the village are living in extremely difficult conditions as the demolitions by the Israeli government, the so-called "Bedouin Settlement Authority," and the police in the Negev continue to pursue Arab residents in this area.

The village has witnessed extensive demolition operations over the past few months, affecting more than 60 homes and agricultural facilities in three phases, and more than 200 homes are expected to be demolished in the coming weeks, pursuant to a decision issued by the Israeli court in Beer Sheva to evacuate the village.
