North Korea: We intend to develop our nuclear and military arsenal
SadaNews - North Korean leader Kim Jong Un announced that his country will reveal a policy to develop both its nuclear and conventional military arsenals during an upcoming meeting of the ruling party, according to official media reports on Saturday.
According to "AFP," citing the official Korean Central News Agency, Kim emphasized during his visit this week to special weapons research centers that Pyongyang "will advance a policy of simultaneously building nuclear forces and conventional armed forces," without specifying the date of the party meeting.
It is worth noting that since the failure of the summit with the United States in 2019, North Korea has insisted that it will not give up its nuclear weapons.
The war in Ukraine has also "boosted the North Korean leader," as he received "critical support from Russia," says the "AFP" report, after sending thousands of North Korean soldiers to fight alongside Moscow. Moscow and Pyongyang signed a mutual defense agreement last year during Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to the "isolated state."
Kim and Putin participated together with Chinese President Xi Jinping in a massive military parade in Beijing this month, which sparked a sharp reaction from U.S. President Donald Trump, who accused them of conspiring against the United States.
