The President expresses his gratitude to Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his authentic and steadfast positions on the Palestine issue

SadaNews - President Mahmoud Abbas expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to his brother, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for what was stated in the annual royal speech delivered at the opening of the second year of the ninth session of the Shura Council, regarding his authentic and steadfast positions on the Palestine issue and the rights of its people. The President affirmed that His Highness's statement that the land of Gaza is Palestinian, and that the rights of the Palestinian people are established and cannot be taken away by aggression or threats, reflects the historic and authentic stance of the Kingdom, both leadership and people, in harmony with the Arab Peace Initiative launched by the Kingdom in 2002, which remains the essential reference for achieving a just and comprehensive peace and embodying an independent Palestinian state on the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital. The President praised the intensive efforts exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through working in close coordination with the State of Palestine and several brotherly and friendly countries to form a global coalition to implement the two-state solution, and leading the Arab Islamic contact group that traveled the world to garner international recognition of the State of Palestine and strengthen international consensus to implement the two-state solution. He also acknowledged the recent unprecedented political and diplomatic achievements in this area, and the announcement by many countries around the world of recognizing the State of Palestine before and during the international summit to be held in New York on September 22. He also appreciated the Kingdom's clear and strong condemnation of the ongoing brutal aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, its rejection of the crimes of occupation, including starvation and forced displacement, as well as its firm stance in condemning the Israeli aggression against the sisterly State of Qatar, which reflects the Kingdom's commitment to the security and unity of the Arab and Islamic nation. The President concluded by emphasizing that these noble positions represent a strong support and steadfast backing for the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle for freedom and independence, and reflect the Kingdom's leading role in protecting Arab and Islamic rights, embodying the values of solidarity and joint action.
