A Drone Targets the Largest Vessels of the Resilience Fleet Off Tunisia (Video)

SadaNews - The Resilience Fleet management reported that its main vessel, "Family", was attacked in the early hours of Tuesday morning, resulting in a fire onboard.

Thiago Avila, a member of the fleet management, stated that the ship was targeted by a drone strike off the Tunisian coast, with several team members on board, though none were harmed.

The media committee of the Resilience Fleet released a video clip that purportedly documents the moment the vessel was targeted, while the official spokesperson for the fleet, Saif Abu Kashk, confirmed that the convoy would continue its journey despite the incident.

In contrast, the Tunisian National Guard's general administration denied the circulating account of a drone attack, stating in a statement that initial investigations indicate that the fire was caused by the ignition of a life jacket due to a lighter or a cigarette butt.

The Tunisian police also clarified that they managed to control the flames without any reported injuries, confirming that the incident resulted from an internal malfunction.

On the other hand, the UN Special Rapporteur for Palestine, Francesca Albanese, described the incident as a serious development, suggesting via her account on the "X" platform that the vessel was indeed attacked by a drone. She added that two other vessels from the Resilience Fleet are en route to Tunisia and require urgent protection.

Furthermore, Reuters reported, citing the fleet team, that the targeted ship was carrying members of the fleet's steering committee, which was scheduled to depart from the Tunisian port of Sidi Bou Said later to break the Israeli blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip.
