Russia Refuses to Discuss Any Foreign Intervention in Ukraine
SadaNews - Russia announced on Thursday that it rejects discussing any "foreign intervention" in Ukraine "in any form," at a time when European countries are showing a willingness to deploy forces in this country as part of a settlement to the conflict.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told reporters in Vladivostok in the far east of Russia that "Russia has no intention of discussing foreign intervention in Ukraine," warning that such intervention "in any form or shape will be completely unacceptable and will undermine any form of security."
She added: "All these ideas proposed by the leader of Kyiv, which are actually identical to the initiatives of his European sponsors - or rather the European war party, as we have repeatedly pointed out - are completely unacceptable. They aim to keep Ukraine as a launching pad for terrorism and provocations against our country. These are not guarantees for Ukraine's security, but guarantees of danger to the European continent."
Earlier, on Wednesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that achieving lasting peace in Ukraine requires recognition and establishment of new regional realities according to international legal frameworks.
Lavrov added that a sustainable settlement in Ukraine is "impossible without addressing the root causes of the conflict and removing the threats directed against Russia's security," noting that Moscow expects negotiations between Russia and Ukraine to continue, pointing out that "the heads of the delegations are still in direct contact."
The Russian Foreign Minister emphasized that Moscow appreciates India's position, which has not succumbed to American pressures and has adhered to the principles of free trade.
The Eastern Economic Forum is holding its tenth edition from September 3 to 6 at the Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok, under the slogan: "The Far East - Cooperation for Peace and Prosperity," with several international delegations participating, while the "Sputnik" agency is the main media partner for the forum.
